Review by hotel critic
I recently spent a few days at Forest Side while exploring the beautiful Lake District, and I found it to be a delightful yet understated experience. The hotel’s character lies in its charming grounds, which provide a beautiful setting for any nature lover or landscape photographer like myself. On the practical side, the room was very functional, equipped with tea and coffee facilities, and free Wi-Fi, which helps you stay connected as you explore the rugged outdoors. The comfortable bed ensured restful nights after long hikes. The housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient, maintaining a clean environment throughout my stay. While there is no on-site restaurant for evening meals, the breakfast was commendable, offering hearty options to fuel a day of adventure. It’s a short stroll to Grasmere, where you can find various dining options, which was more of a treat than a chore after walking all day. Considering the price point, Forest Side offers reasonable value, especially for those looking to soak in the natural beauty without breaking the bank. Just keep in mind that while it leans towards the luxury side with its warm ambiance and lovely garden, there are limits in amenities that could enhance the overall stay further. If you're seeking a comfortable base with a touch of rustic charm, it’s certainly worth considering!
